  • DAY 2 Quito/Puerto Ayora

    Early flight to Baltra. Meet the guide and transfer across Santa Cruz Island to Puerto Ayora to board the boat.

    Transfer early to the airport for the flight to the Galapagos Islands. Upon arrival meet the naturalist guide, who will assist with the transfer to the Xavier, which is moored in Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz Island. Visit a tortoise ranch in the Santa Cruz highlands and get up close and personal with these ancient creatures.

    Santa Cruz
    Head to Santa Cruz's verdant highlands and the El Chato Reserve, a perfect place to see giant tortoises in their natural environment. Explore the reserve's lagoon and lava tunnels, keeping an eye out for owls that often roost in the tunnels' entrances.

  • DAY 3 Isla Rabida/Bachas Beach

    Land at Rabida Island for a visit to a saltwater lagoon and sea lion colony. Afternoon excursion to Bachas Beach for walks to observe the bird and wildlife as well as free time for swimming and snorkelling.

    In the morning, go on an excursion to Rabida Island, and land on a red sand beach.

    Afternoon excursion to Bachas Beach to see the sea lions and plentiful bird life.

    Arrive at a red sand beach at Rabida to explore its trails. A short trail leads to a saltwater lagoon; another trail goes past the lagoon to the interior, where the revered palo santo trees grow. (When burned, the branches of this tree give off a pleasing aroma and ward off mosquitoes.) Head back to the beach to see prehistoric-looking pelicans nesting among low-lying bushes - it's a rare treat to watch parent pelicans return with gullets full of fish for the squawking youngsters.

    Head to Bachas Beach where the sand is made of decomposed coral, making it soft and white, and a favourite site for nesting sea turtles. Spot abundant Sally Lightfoot crabs on the lava rocks along the water's edge -- these crabs will eat anything they can get their claws on! Trek to see a wide range of wildlife, including flamingos, hermit crabs, black necked stilts, and sea lions.

  • DAY 4 Floreana Island

    Land at Punta Cormorant on Floreana Island. Guided walks to observe the bird and wildlife and learn about the natural history. Visit Post Office Bay in the afternoon. Snorkelling excusion at the Corona del Diablo.

    Morning visit to Punta Cormorant on the northern part of Floreana. This is a perfect spot to go snorkelling from the boat, as the waters are home to a multitude of colourful fish and sea lions. Please be sure you are a comfortable swimmer. Despite the protection from the open sea provided by the "crown," the water here can be rough and the currents are strong.

    In the afternoon, visit Post Office Bay, which has an older and less mysterious history. A short hike up past the post barrel takes you to an interesting lava cave.

    Visit Punta Cormorant, the only landing site on Floreana Island, and discover two amazingly different beaches: one with green sand, coloured by olivine crystals, and another with white sand particles known as 'Flour Beach'. Spend the afternoon observing flamingos and other shore birds feeding in the lagoon. Spot penguins and marine iguanas at the water's edge, and explore the lava tubes with the Galapagos CEO.

    Visit Post Office Bay and learn about its unique history. In the late 18th century, English whaling vessels placed a barrel here to be used as a post office. Today, the box is used mainly by tourists, who may drop off and pick up unstamped letters to be carried to far destinations. Continue the tradition - leave a letter and take one to deliver (be sure it makes it to the correct location)!

    Enjoy an amazing snorkeling experience at the 'Devil's Crown', an old underwater volcanic cone just north of the Punta Cormorant. Spot large schools of tropical fish, rays, reef sharks, and sea turtles that make their home among the coral reef. Be sure you're a strong swimmer; the currents can be intense.

    Visit Punta Suarez and Gardner Bay on Espanola Island. Enjoy guided walks to observe wildlife and free time for swimming or snorkelling.

    Visit Gardner Bay's magnificent white sandy beach, home to sea lions and sea birds. Be sure to explore the beautiful turquoise water and its incredible sea life. Spot young sea lions and large schools of surprisingly big tropical fish, including yellow-tailed surgeonfish, king angelfish, and bump-head parrot fish.

    Visit the Interpretation Centre on San Cristobal Island and enjoy free time to explore the port town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Afternoon excursion to El Junco lagoon and the tortoise breeding centre.

    Puerto Baquerizo Moreno
    Take a stroll along the boardwalk, keeping an eye out for sea lions lounging in the street. Puerto Baquerizo Moreno is the capital of the Galapagos, and a small town that can be easily explored on foot.

    Visit the giant tortoise breeding centre and see all of the difference species of tortoises up close. See newborns as well as full-grown adult tortoises that can live well over 100 years. Learn how these gentle giants can grow so big!

    Keep an eye out for birdlife on this visit to Laguna El Junco. Located in the San Cristobal highland, it is the only freshwater lake in the Galapagos and home to many species of endemic birds. Explore the area and its thick vegetation, and enjoy the fresh air at the slightly higher altitude.

    Cerro Tijeretas Walk

    Hike to 'Las Tijeretas', a nesting site for frigatebirds located just past the Interpretation Centre. Feel free to go on your own - this walk does not need a guide and is well marked. Walk quietly up the hill to find the birds, and then cool off at the beach or go snorkelling off the rocks at Mann Beach (Playa Man). (Breakfast,Dinner,Lunch)

  • DAY 7 Punta Pitt/Kicker Rock

    Morning landing at Punta Pitt and Islet Pitt. After, visit Cerro Brujo on San Cristobal Island to observe the sea lions, marine iguanas, and seabirds along the beach. Continue to the dramatic Kicker Rock in the afternoon.

    Enjoy amazing wildlife watching and interesting geological formations on this fascinating expedition. Arrive at a quiet cove on the eastern tip of San Cristobal to explore Punta Pitt. Made up of volcanic tuff substrate, it's the only site in the Galapagos where it's possible to see three species of boobies and two species of frigatebirds.

    Visit Cerro Brujo to explore its coastline, and look for wildlife on the beach, in the water, and in the air. Learn about the human and natural history of the area from the Galapagos CEO. Take a refreshing dip in the turquoise water, and head out on a short walk to a freshwater lagoon - a great place to see flamingos.

    Embark on a snorkelling adventure at Kicker Rock, one of the most stunning landmarks in the Galapagos Islands that's home to an incredibly diverse range of marine life that inhabits the nutrient-rich water. Explore the rock which rises 150m (492 ft) above the ocean's surface, and is divided into two parts by a narrow channel navigable by small vessels. See an array of sharks and fish that are drawn to the rock and provide for an exhilarating unique snorkelling experience.

  • DAY 8 Isla Santiago

    Morning excursion to Playa Espumilla, one of the most idyllic beaches in the Galapagos Islands and home to thick mangroves and flamingo and sea turtle nesting sites. Continue to Buccaneer Cove to witness the towering cliff wall rock formations before going to Puerto Egas to see the salt crater as well as a dark-sand beach and tidal pools.

    Jump into the panga and cruise alongside high cliffs and rock formations on this visit to Bucaneer Cove, which was a favourite hideout for pirates looking to stock up their boats with food and water. Spot sea lions relaxing on the beach and sea birds nesting in the cove - there's lots to see at this site.

    Head to Playa Espumilla, one of the most idyllic beaches in the Galapagos Islands, which has thick mangroves and sea turtle nesting sites.

  • DAY 9 Puerto Ayora/Quito

    Disembark in Puerto Ayora and visit the Charles Darwin Research Station to see the giant Galapagos tortoises. Fly back to Quito.

    Transfer to the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Enjoy one last night in historic Quito.

    Visit the Charles Darwin Research Station, a science organization initiated in 1964, which works to preserve the Galapagos' ecosystem through the conservation efforts of scientists, researchers, and volunteers. It also provides a study location for international scientists and training for naturalist guides. Tour the exhibition centre to see photo displays of recent volcanic eruptions, charts outlining geological formations, and drawings of the evolutionary development of endemic species.

    The station is also a great place to observe many species of tortoises and land iguanas in captivity, brought back from the brink of extinction. See the famous Galapagos tortoise up close - a corral houses adult tortoises, and a nursery cares for the young until around age three when their shells have hardened.

  2. This programme is operated on a Coach tour. Maximum Group size is 16 passengers, at an average there are 12 passengers travelling on this tour.

  3. Itinerary descriptions are guaranteed with the exception of unforeseen conditions which include, but are not limited to, road closures due to weather, acts of God, safety concerns, changes to highway legal restrictions, and acts by third parties beyond the control of Service Provider.

  4. There is no refund for any non-utilization of any services.

  5. All holiday prices are subject to Govt. Service Tax of 5% payable to Govt of India.

  6. At this point of time no services are confirmed and the same is subject to availability.

  7. Request for an early hotel check in or late checkout is at the discretion of the accommodation unless pre-booked and pre-paid in advance.

  9. G Adventures requires your passport number, full name and date of birth at the time of booking. Please make sure you give this information to your travel agent.

  10. Once you have confirmed your booking please give us your international flight details and advise us if you have any important issues such as allergies, special diets, etc.

  11. The Ecuadorian government currently levies a Galapagos Islands Park entry fee of $100 USD per person. This is payable at the airport upon arrival in the park. It is not included in the cost of the tour, and must be paid in CASH. This fee funds Park maintenance and supervision in Galapagos, as well as ecological study, conservation and infrastructure development in Ecuador's other National Parks. Entry fees and the funds they generate for the National Park System are among measures taken by the Ecuadorian government to protect its natural heritage.

  12. The Galapagos National Park authorities have implemented a system of Transit Control Cards at a fee of $20 USD per person. This card is to be purchased in CASH at a counter in the Quito airport before boarding the flight to the Galapagos. Please retain this card along with your passport as you will be required to present this upon arrival to the Galapagos Islands. Please note that this applies to all tourists entering the Galapagos Islands and is a supplement to the existing entry fee to the National Park and is not controlled by tour operators or travel agencies. It is the first of a number of initiatives to track, control and maintain the sustainable tourism targets set out by the Galapagos National Park and the Ecuadorian government in an attempt to preserve the fragile environment of the archipelago.

  13. Please note that the rooming on our Galapagos yachts is done on a first-come, first-serve basis, and we are not able to guarantee the specific cabin you will receive on board. The cabins are comfortable and clean, all with private bathrooms. Due to the specific location of the cabins on board, the window sizes vary as well as the noise at times when the boat is navigating, given the proximity of the cabin to the engine room. Our friendly and competent crew will ensure the smooth and comfortable journey for the duration of your tour.

  14. Please note that this trip is a combination of multiple G Adventures tours. As such, the staff may change between tour segments. You may also expect some group members to join or leave the tour, between tour segments. There may be a few hours between segments of the trip, where you will get to stretch your legs on land, and explore independently while your crew prepares the vessel for any passengers who will be joining the tour.
