  • DAY 2 Quito/Tena

    Travel by bus into the Amazon Basin at Tena. Enjoy the incredible scenery along the route as you drive.

    Travel by bus down to the Amazon Basin. En route to Tena, watch the scenery change from towering mountains to lush jungle, passing by waterfalls and deep river valleys. Arrive in the jungle town of Tena.

  • DAY 3 Tena

    Navigate the wild Jatunyaku River in the surrounding lush cloud forest. The cool water and air make this an excellent change from the tropical Amazon climate. Return to Tena for the night.

    Experience the thrill of whitewater rafting on a full-day excursion on River Jatunyacu, a wide and relatively calm waterway, with some large waves. Take on Class 3+ rapids, which include a good balance of rapids and open water. Give it a try, even if new to the sport - this experience is accessible for anyone without any previous rafting experience. (Lunch)

  • DAY 4 Tena/Banos

    Travel by bus to Banos. Free afternoon for optional activities like biking, visiting local waterfalls, or exploring the town on foot.

    The town is the perfect setting for outdoor pursuits, including horseback riding, canyoning, hiking, mountain biking, climbing in the surrounding mountains, and rafting on the River Patate.

    Transfer to the start point of the trek and walk into Llanganates National Park. Enjoy spectacular views of Tunguragua Volcano.

    Transfer by private vehicle to the start point of the trek into Llanganates National Park. Enjoy spectacular scenery of the Tunguragua Volcano while trekking into the park through lush cloud forest. Spend the night camping under the stars enjoying nature at its best.

    Llanganates National Park Trek Day 1
    Cordillera de los Llanganates 18km
    Embark on an exhilarating trek in Llanganates National Park, famous for its amazing landscapes and storied mystery.Legend has it that the Inca General Ruminahui has a large sum of gold hidden somewhere in the Tungurahua mountain range.Start the hike at 3,200m (10,498 ft) above sea level and travel upwards to 3,800m (12,467 ft).See a variety of changes in vegetation while trekking to higher elevations.Expect stunning views of the Tungurahua Volcano and the Sangay Volcano (if visibility is good).Spend a night camping at a local trout farm in the National Park with the opportunity to catch and prepare fresh trout. (Lunch,Dinner)

  • DAY 6 Cordillera de los Llanganates/Banos

    Continue to the volcano's hiker refuge before returning to Banos in the evening. Opt to visit the local hot springs.

    Continue trekking after breakfast taking breaks to enjoy the views. Return by foot to the entrance of Llanganates National Park and transfer back to Banos for the night. Optional visits to the hot springs to rest aching muscles.

Rise before the sun for an early soak - watching the sun peak over the mountains while relaxing in the warm waters is definitely worth the early morning wake-up. (Breakfast)

    Enjoy free time in Banos, a town famous for outdoor activities. Pick one of the many activities on offer, or simply relax in town.

    Free morning in Banos for optional activities like horseback riding or another visit to the hot springs. Travel by bus from Banos to the town of Lasso near Cotopaxi Volcano.

    Enjoy a free morning in Banos to explore the area on foot or take on one of the many optional activities that the region has to offer. After lunch, the group will travel by public bus through spectacular Andean scenery arriving at the town of Lasso, near the base of Cotopaxi Volcano, to spend the night. Free evening to explore the area on foot before the following day's activity.

  • DAY 8 Lasso/Quito

    In the morning, enjoy the thrill of a downhill biking excursion on Cotopaxi Volcano. Return to Quito in the evening for a final night in the city.

    First thing in the morning, meet local guides who will give the group a briefing on the biking excursion ahead on Cotopaxi Volcano. Travel in a private van into the National Park and to the start of the descent, all the way up at 4,000m (13,123 ft) above sea level!

    The guides will give another briefing and will test the equipment before the group embarks on the adrenaline rush of the bicycle decent down the volcano! A box lunch will be waiting at the bottom. Enjoy lunch and catch your breath before transferring back to the capital city of Quito for a final night out on the town.
