  • DAY 2 Yogyakarta

    Hop on a cycle-rickshaw and explore all the city has to offer, including the Sultan's Palace, markets, and the batik and puppetry workshops of Yogya. Options include shopping or taking in a Wayang Kulit shadow puppet show or a Ramayana dance performance.

    Yogyakarta is very walkable, so a stroll around the fascinating bird market is always interesting. If silver is of interest to you, then a trip to Kota Gede to pick up a hand-beaten bowl or some fine filigree is definitely worthwhile. As the home of arts, this really is the place to take in a Wayang (puppet) show or a dance performance, usually based on the Ramayana story.

    Take in the wonderful sights of Yogya from a leisurely bicycle rickshaw ride, including the Sultan's Palace and markets.

    Kota Gede Visit
    Shop (or window shop) for a stunning hand-beaten bowl. If silver is more your thing, you can find fine silver filigree within this historical district known for its impressive silver work. (Breakfast)

  • DAY 3 Yogyakarta

    Enjoy an excursion to the Buddhist Temple complex of Borobudur, travelling on foot and by horse cart alongside a local guide. In your free time, opt to visit Kraton, an 18th century palace or Taman Sari Water Castle.

    Take in the stunning artistic and architectural marvel that is the Buddhist Temple complex of Borobudur, a not-to-be-missed World Heritage Site. Learn about its interesting history and restoration; the site lay undiscovered under layers of volcanic ash until 1815, when Sir Stamford Raffles, then Governor of Java, ordered the area to be cleared.

    Enjoy a charming horse cart ride around the Buddhist temple complex of Borobudur.

    Kraton Palace Visit

    Take in the royal splendour of this impressive 18th century palace, built by the Sultans of Yogya. Kraton is one of the finest examples of Javanese alace architecture and is essentially a walled city -- it has its own market, schools, and even mosques.

    Taman Sari Water Castle Visit
    Enjoy a visit to this castle built in the 18th century as a pleasure park for the Sultan. Check out the intricately carved gates and the bathing complex and tower, from where the Sultan would watch his concubines frolicking in the water. (Breakfast)

  • DAY 4 Yogyakarta/Surakarta

    Visit Prambanan, the largest Hindu temple complex in Java. Continue on to Surakarta, where we visit the Mangkunegaran Palace for a traditional dance class and enjoy high tea. Solo, also known as Surakarta, was selected by Pakubuwono II as the new capital of the Mataram Kingdom following the sacking of Kartasura in 1745. Ranking alongside Yogyakarta at the heart of Javanese culture, Solo boasts Kraton Surakarta, the magnificent 18th century palace and museum of the Royal Family, as well as producing some of the finest Batik in Java.

    Candi Prambanan
    Tour Prambanan, the largest Hindu temple complex in Java, and learn about the history of the temples. Built between the eighth and tenth centuries, these temples now stand as one of the most outstanding works of Hindu art. View their intricate design, particularly on the Shiva temple.

    Take an excursion to the slopes of Mount Lawu including a visit to the Candi Cetho and Candi Sukuh Temples. Opt to visit the Batik Museum.

  • DAY 7 Malang

    Take a scenic excursion to Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park by jeep to catch the sunrise. We then ascend to the top of Mt Bromo, part of the Tengger Caldera, the largest volcanic range in the area. Later, visit the volcanology office at Mt Bromo and meet with one of the experts who will explain how they monitor the volcano and discuss the 2010 eruption.

    Jump in a jeep and explore the winding landscape of Eastern Java, climbing upwards and outwards towards the grandeur of Mt Bromo to witness a stunning sunrise. Hike to the peak of Mt Bromo, part of the Tengger Calder, the largest volcanic range in the area. A distinct site, the volcano blew its top off completely and is constantly smouldering with white smoke.

  • DAY 8 Malang/Ubud

    Catch a flight and transfer to Ubud, the cultural and artistic heart of Bali and our base for the next three nights. You'll be inspired by the laid back way of life, the beauty, and the scenic splendour that is Ubud. Get to know the town on an orientation walk provided by our CEO.

  • DAY 9 Ubud

    Enjoy a cooking class with a local chef who will accompany us to the morning markets and a visit to a rice field, helping us learn about the staples of Balinese cooking. We will later gather at our chef's home, where we'll learn how to make a traditional offering, followed by a lively cooking class and lunch. We can enjoy our afternoon at leisure.

    Free time today allows us to opt to enjoy a display of traditional Kecak dance or maybe roam the Gianyar night market for some local cuisine. Other options include strolling through the rice fields, devouring delicious organic foods, or white water rafting.

    Balinese Home Cooking
    Meet our local chef who accompanies us to the traditional morning markets, introducing you to the tropical fruits, vegetables and spices used in Balinese cooking. Continue on to a rice field to learn about this staple food in Bali. After, arrive at our chef's home where we learn how to make a traditional offering before heading onto a lively cooking class to learn the basics of regional cooking. Finally, sit down to enjoy our efforts for lunch.

    Ubud Afternoon
    Enjoy a display of traditional Kecak dance or maybe try Gianyar night market for some local cuisine. Stroll through the rice fields, chow down on some organic food, or white water raft. Just outside of Ubud, opt to visit the Bali Zoo, the Bird Park, or the Elephant Park to get a taste of the wildlife of Southeast Asia.

    Enjoy a display of traditional Kecak dance (aka Ramayana Monkey Chant), depicting a battle from the Ramayana.

    Whitewater Rafting
    Experience the thrill of the rapids. Enjoy an amazing ride, but don't forget to paddle! Be sure to wear clothes you don't mind getting wet.

    Gianyar Night Market
    Tour the Gianyar night market for some local cuisine. Enjoy amazing food (including savoury soups, satay and sweets) and take in Balinese culture. (Breakfast,Lunch)

  • DAY 10 Ubud/Sanur

    Explore the spiritual side of Bali, following mountain roads through the jungle to visit Tirta Empul Temple, its bubbling springs believed to hold curative powers. Continue to Gunung Kawi, a Hindu temple complex surrounded by terraced rice fields. Eventually make your way to Kintamani, perched 1500m (4921 ft) above sea level on the edge of a crater overlooking Lake Batur, with active Mount Batur towering above. Arrive in Sanur this evening.

    Take in the beauty of this Hindu temple, built in 962 and dedicated to Vishnu, the Hindu god of preservation. Wade through its bubbling springs, believed to hold curative powers.

    Gunung Kawi Temple Visit
    Explore this ancient Hindu temple complex, which is surrounded by bright green terraced rice fields. Be sure to check out the shrines carved into the cliff -- they stand at an impressive 7m (23ft).

    Kintamani Visit
    Take in the stunning vistas surrounding this charming village. Perched 1500m (4921 ft) above sea level, it's on the edge of a crater overlooking Lake Batur, with active Mount Batur towering above.

  • DAY 11 Sanur

    Explore Sanur and enjoy a visit to the southern beaches of Dream Land and Padang Padang and the clifftop Uluwatu Temple. This evening, opt to join our CEO for a farewell dinner at Pecatu Hill, overlooking the lights of Kuta and the largest Vishnu Statue in the world.

    Explore Southern Bali
